Fishing with Calypso in Bonaire! What a special place and a special experience! Fishing with Calypso Charters, Hagen and Flo, has been fantastic. I have done several trips over the last year, multiple days and will continue to come back for more. The boat is very comfortable, new top of the line Shimano equipment and the team is fantastic. I have caught lots of Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, Blackfin Tuna and Barracuda.

Once again, the captain and crew of Calypso didn’t disappoint! Hagen and Flo work together as only a father and son team can. Their knowledge of the waters of Bonaire is evident as they put us on fish regularly. For the second year in a row we caught Wahoo, Rainbow Runner and Barracuda… in that order! Seems almost “fishy” to us 😎. The fishing is only surpassed by the camaraderie and belly laughs shared by all!! Can’t wait for a three-peat next year.

Fantastic Trip with Calypso Fishing Charters & Captain Hagen

We had an excellent experience with Calypso Fishing Charters and Captain Hagen. We were a group of three, including two kids (ages 12 and 14), and Captain Hagen was fantastic with them — patient, engaging, and great at making the trip fun and comfortable.
We caught two barracuda, one of them incredibly big, which was a highlight for all of us. Captain Hagen cleaned and prepared the fish and gave us great tips on how to cook them, which we really appreciated.
The boat was clean, well-equipped, and the entire experience was smooth and enjoyable. This was one of the highlights of our trip, and we would absolutely book with him again. Highly recommended.

Der ganze Vormittag war trotz etwas Wellengang entspannt und erfolgreich. Im Preis inbegriffen sind Getränke und Sandwiches. Ich würde sofort wieder gehen. Danke für den schönen Tag.

We had a great day with Hagen and Flo. Very nice guys! Caught some beautiful fish: a big Wahu, a barracuda, a red snapper and an amberjack. The boat is nice, you have a lot of room to move. We will definitely come back! Thanks guys!

Amazing fishing trip, super fun and well organized! We had an amazing morning on our fishing trip! The guys on board were super friendly and everything was really well organized. They explained everything clearly, and we got to help out with all the steps. so much fun and very educational. We caught some beautiful fish and had a fantastic time. We’d definitely do it again. Fantastic morning on the water! Captan Hagen and his son Flo were fantastic to deal with. Everything was exactly the way they said it would be. Nice early start to the day catching live bait then on to finding the fish. The crew is very knowledgeable about Bonaire and the fishing in the area. We were able to catch some fantastic Maui Maui and barracuda. Would recommend to anyone wanting a great adventure on a fantastic boat and crew. Will be returning !

Basically wicked tuna but in Bonaire Captain Hagen and Florian are delightful to be around and they know their stuff. 1 hour into the trip and every other cast was a black fin tuna (results may very for others but jigging was a blast on our end.

Cooler stocked with beer and food - these guys know how to host.

They are also very knowledgeable about the island its topography/history.

A completely amazing experience from start to finish. They were helpful, accommodating, came ready with yummy snacks and drinks, and genuinely put the effort in to make sure we had fun. Great communicators and flexible as well!

What a Great Time! We had a great time and caught fish that we were able to eat that night. Delicious! Captain and first mate were wonderful. Would repeat next time we visit (and planning on it).

Highly Recommend Booking a Fishing Trip with Calypso We went fishing with Captain Hagen and his son Flo for 5 hours on the morning of July 1, 2025, and had a terrific time! Hagen is so knowledgeable about the island and its history - not to mention fishing and the island’s land, air, and sea life. On the fishing trip, we caught black fin tuna, bonito, and bar jack - and ate sashimi right on the boat. My family of four, including two teenagers, had such a great time that we booked Captain Hagen again a few days later for a snorkeling trip, which was just as wonderful! I’ve been recommending that all my family and friends go to Bonaire and book Calypso Charters!

Capt. Hagen & Flo Are Fantastic Guides Son and I did a charter with Calypso while in Bonaire for our first time. Boat and gear were immaculate and the expertise and efforts put forth were exceptional. Great crew My wife and I went for a half day fishing charter, they were very responsive to all questions and letting us know what to expect. The captain is so friendly and personable as well as his first mate his son . They welcomed us with open arms, telling stories and each of us sharing experiences. We got pounded by rain and then it cleared up , they gave my wife a rain coat to make her more comfortable during the storm . I can say we honestly didn’t catch anything but it wasn’t from trying! The weather cleared up and it was a beautiful day , they made sure to include my wife who was just along for the ride to make her very much so part of the group. The gave us a lot of information about the island, when it ended he gave me his number and told me to ask for any help while we were on the island. I can’t say enough good things about them . The boat was very well maintained and comfortable, they had snack , sandwiches, water , pop . I would use them again in a heart beat !

Had a lot of fun with my family. Captain and lizzie were super nice and welcoming. They provided so many yummy snacks and food. Also a lot of interesting facts over fish. Cannot forget to mention how beautiful the coral was .

The Best... I’ve chartered in Belize, Cape Cod, New York, North Carolina and New Jersey. This charter was exceptional. The boat is immaculate, both Hagen and his son are super friendly, professional, knowledgeable and definitely know how, when and where. I’ll be back on that boat next year. One of the most pleasurable mornings I’ve had on fish. I’ve made new friends and lots of memories. Kudos to Calypso Charters in Bonaire.

A late review but my wife and I fished with captain H and Flo over Valentine’s Day. I cannot recommend them enough. They were kind, fun, respectful, amazing hosts and great fishermen. We will certainly book another trip with them next time we are in Bonaire. Do yourselves a favor and book with them.

Best experience right here!!! Great experience, Hagen and his son are a fantastic crew! We went out for wahoo but they were not biting. That is why its called fishing an not catching! But not to come home empty handed Hagen got us on some nice Barracuda and Bar Jack. All in all we had a great time, lots of laughs, caught some fish and made some memories. Amazing solo sunset cruise with Calypso! What a wonderful day with Hagen and Liz! I booked a private snorkel and sunset cruise to end my trip before heading home to the (currently tumultuous) States. I was on Bonaire solo and had been boat diving all week, so I wasn’t sure how much I’d want to snorkel by the end of the week. Hagen and Liz made it clear it was my boat for the evening so whatever I wanted, we’d do. I’d asked for just water and Prosecco to drink, and they did not disappoint! We wound up chatting for hours as we sailed along the coast and it was like I was on the boat with old friends. They really went out of their way to ensure I was comfortable and taken care of. I wanted a private experience and it was well worth it. The boat is lovely and comfortable, and not having a bunch of strangers on the boat with you is priceless.

We tied off at 1000 Steps and saw turtles on the surface while I enjoyed Prosecco and good conversation with Hagen and Liz. Then we headed over to Klein and No Name Beach for a bit, where I did a little swimming and beach walking. Then we sailed back as the sun set and the moon rose. I managed to finish two bottles of Prosecco in the 4 hour trip

I don’t fish, but the boat is well-equipped for it if that’s your thing. Hagen is also a chef and I’m sure his fresh sashimi is *chef’s kiss* delicious.

Next time I’m in Bonaire I will be sure to rebook another trip with Calypso. As a solo traveler I had an incredible experience and can’t wait to return. If you’re thinking about going private for your Bonaire experience, go with Calypso! Hagen and Liz are the best. Thanks, guys!

One of many amazing Bonaire adventures. We had an amazing time with Haagen and Flo on our afternoon fishing adventure. Must Do in Bonaire! What an amazing experience! Captain Hagen and First Mate Liz did an incredible job of making us feel like welcomed friends on their boat. There were 7 of us and there was plenty of room for everyone. Communication was super responsive leading up the tour which we appreciated and there were no hiccups getting picked up and making it to the boat.

We had some folks in our group with mobility and vision issues and they were great in accommodating making sure everyone got to enjoy everything. Quality food, drinks, conversation and interesting info about Bonaire were free flowing. We got to snorkel at a private local spot, enjoy some beach time at beautiful No-Name Beach, and revel in a spectacular sunset.

Overall, we can’t recommend the Calypso and this crew enough. It was the highlight of our Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao cruise and it’s refreshingly rare to get to enjoy the sightseeing with locals that are this knowledgeable and warm treating you like family along the way. Thank you so much for sharing your boat with our group!

A must see and must do! Good communication with the captain prior to the fishing trip with friends (4 men). The different fishing methods ensure you a good catch. Catering is ok. Very sympathetic, open and reliable crew (father and son). In future we would definitely choose Bonaire Calypso Charters again.

Boat was clean with plenty of food and drinks. Great fishing experience! Captain Hagen took us to the fish. We trolled and bottom fished , catching fish both ways. Captain was also very knowledgeable about the island. Would recommend using his boat for fishing, snorkeling or for a cruse.

While doing so we saw what seemed to be hundreds of dolphins swim and playing around us. It was pretty incredible! Towards the end of the tour the rain ended and we had some spectacular views from the beach. The food and drinks were great and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If we come back to Bonaire again, we will definitely be contacting Liz and Haagan!!

Good vibes & fun fishing with Team Calypso Our family of three had an incredible morning fishing with Team Calypso in Bonaire! Highlights included all of us catching barracudas, and a pod of dolphins swimming alongside the boat—truly magical!

The father-and-son team are professional, friendly and easy to talk to. Their local tips and insistence on good vibes—complete with reggae tunes—made the trip extra special. They also packed a delicious picnic lunch and drinks.

We highly recommend spending time on the water with Team Calypso!

Captain Hagen and crew Captain Hagen and his first mate are top notch. Started by catching bait near shore, then headed out to deeper waters for bigger fish. Boat is extremely clean, runs smooth and comfortable. Explanations of techniques as well as step by step teaching when a strike.
Great experience, caught fish and they cleaned it to bring back and eat. Highly recommended.

Best experience of our trip to Bonaire. We went snorkeling with the guide and it was absolutely incredible. The guide was super informative about the island and the wildlife and they even made us a whole cooler of fruit, sandwiches, and charcuterie. Two of us in the group are vegan and they went out of their way to get us food that we could eat. If I could rate 6 stars I would.

The luxury private yacht snorkel with sunset views was the highlight of our Bonaire vacation. The motto of the owners is to treat their guests like family and that was exactly our experience. Great day Fishing!!! We went out fishing with Hagan yesterday on the Calypso. What a great time we had. We saw a pod of many dolphins that followed our boat for a while. Also caught many fish!! Price was reasonable and we didn’t have to drive the boat for hours to catch fish. Boat is 28 feet, comfortable, and has shade. Thanks Hagan and Flo!! He’s also an expert diver with 3000 dives.

Relaxing and exciting trips We all had an amazing trip with a mixed group of experienced and new fisherman. Had a good trip with lovely sandwiches and krentenbollen while drag fishing. During the bait and jigging we had nice interactions, instructions and banter. Would hearthly recommend!

Ive been fortunate enough to experience Many guides in many waters and I would venture that Hegen and Flo have one of the finest guiding operations in the Caribbean and practice their craft with expertise and proficiency.
